Exercise 5 - Interior with Geometric Objects
Assignment
We are expanding the simple two-point perspective box drawing into a common application. You will draw a simple interior using an interior perspective (the inside of a box). Balance the composition by adding artwork, baseboards, hallways, ceiling tiles, furniture or other details, but keep it simple (everything should be rectilinear). Indicate the primary light source by adding value to show highlights and shadows. Include a value scale as a reference for your darkest and lightest values (1-5). This exercise is about perspective and value. Make your perspective accurate and use the entire range of values (a complex interior is not really the goal at this point).
Craft
Make your lines straight, sharp crisp and clean. Clean up any pencil marks, smudges, and fingerprints. Use an entire sheet of drawing paper for each drawing. Protect them in a folder. You will need them for critique week in the Spring.
Materials
Drawing paper and drawing pencils (4H to 8B)
