Repeated Objects - Exercise 7

Assignment

You will draw a repeating series of objects (statues, a fence, windows, an aqueduct...) that shows how evenly spaced objects are accurately foreshortened. First, you will create the constructed drawing, and then use tracing paper, transfer paper or a light pad to transfer the primary lines to a new sheet for values and rendering. Focus on the primary forms, and use what you have learned to add more details. We expect you to use what you have learned to develop complex objects and forms. This exercise is about accurate spacing of repeated objects and showcasing what you have learned in building forms. Make sure that your perspective and spacing are accurate before moving on the rendering phase. Be sure to use the entire range of values.

Craft

Make your lines straight, sharp crisp and clean. Clean up any pencil marks, smudges, and fingerprints. Use an entire sheet of drawing paper for each drawing. Protect them in a folder. You will need them for critique week in the spring.

Materials

Tracing paper, drawing paper, and drawing pencils (4H to 8B)

Deliverables

Two 8.5 by 11 inch Drawings: the construction lines and basic form (only show partial construction lines if they don’t fit on the page), and the rendered drawing. Include a value scale on the rendered drawing.

Value - 50pts

Points are earned by accurate perspective, high level of detail, wide value range, high level of craft, and following instructions including meeting all of the specifications in the project brief (this page).
