Project 1 - Values in Value
Learning Objectives
Observe and recreate values and shapes to establish forms, textures and patterns. Visualy describe an object from multiple points of view. Create interesting movement within the images and the layout by using the principles of design.
Assignment
Choose a metallic object (example: safety pin, paperclip, scissors…) Draw a series of observational studies of the metallic object in various sizes and orientations. Create a dynamic but unified layout with multiple images from various points of view. Accurately describe the form and texture of your object by rendering shapes of lights, darks and edges within the object. Create visual interest by showing fine details of your object at various scales.
Craft
Craft counts and you will be graded on it. Please take the time to clean up all stray pencil marks, smudges, excess glue or rubber cement. Make your lines straight, sharp, crisp, and clean. Drawing work should be mounted onto black illustration board.

Specs / Deliverables
Pencil drawing of metallic objects. A 12 inch x 15 inch drawing (landscape or portrait) attached to presentation board with 1” black border (14 inch by 17 inch) and flapped.
Value - 100pts
Points are earned by accurate perspective, high level of detail, wide value range, high level of craft, and following instructions including meeting all of the specifications in the project brief (this page).
